Truck came in unstable and noisy from the rear. We found the rear shock absorbers were completely gone — especially driver side. Replaced and back to normal.

truck came into 1Stop Motor Shop in Newtownabbey with two main complaints:

  • strange noise from the rear

  • And that the vehicle felt unstable when driving

After carrying out a thorough inspection, our mechanics found the problem — the rear shock absorbers were completely gone, especially on the driver’s side. This was not just a comfort issue, but a serious safety concern.

What Happens When Shocks Fail?

Shocks (or dampers) control how your suspension moves. When they wear out:

  • You’ll feel every bump on the road

  • The rear end can bounce, sway, or drift

  • It becomes dangerous under braking or cornering

  • Tyres wear out unevenly

  • You’ll hear clunks or rattles from the back end

In this case, the rear of the truck had almost no damping left — making it feel loose and wobbly, especially over bumps or under load.

What We Did

✅ Diagnosed the issue with a visual and bounce test
✅ Replaced both rear shock absorbers
✅ Checked suspension mounts and bushings
✅ Road tested to confirm stability restored

Once the new shocks were fitted, the truck was transformed — stable, quiet, and safe.
