Coolant leak traced to the water pump. We replaced it along with the timing belt kit. Safe, reliable, and sealed again. Done at 1Stop Motor Shop in Newtownabbey.
This vehicle came into 1Stop Motor Shop in Newtownabbey with signs of a coolant leak. The customer noticed a puddle under the car and the engine temperature creeping up.
After inspection, we found the water pump was leaking — and since the pump is driven by the timing belt, it made sense to replace both together.
You can see in the image how the coolant has leaked and dried pink around the belt area, a telltale sign of a water pump failure.
In most engines, the timing belt drives the water pump. That means:
If the pump fails, it can affect the belt
If the belt is removed to change the pump, it’s best to fit a new one
Both are wear items and usually fail around the same mileage
Neglecting this can lead to overheating, engine damage, or a timing belt failure, which can destroy the engine if it’s interference-type.
Coolant puddles under the car
Pink or green residue near belts
Engine overheating or running hot
Squealing or grinding from engine bay
Low coolant level without obvious reason
Removed the old leaking water pump
Replaced with a new high-quality pump
Fitted a new timing belt kit and tensioners
Refilled and bled the cooling system
Road-tested the vehicle thoroughly
Now the cooling system is sealed and running perfectly — with peace of mind for the customer.
