BMW kept dropping after being parked. We found the air suspension compressor was leaking, causing pressure loss. Fixed fast at our Newtownabbey garage.
A BMW came into 1Stop Motor Shop in Newtownabbey with an unusual issue: the air suspension kept dropping when the car was left sitting for a few hours.
Initially, the vehicle would rise again once started — but this is a classic sign of a leak somewhere in the system. After a full inspection, we found the air suspension compressor itself was leaking air, causing the vehicle to lose pressure when parked.
Many BMW models use air suspension to automatically adjust ride height, improve comfort, and manage load levels.
The system includes:
Air bags (or struts)
A compressor
Air lines
Height sensors
Control module
Vehicle sits low after parking
“Suspension fault” warning on dashboard
Rear sits lower than front
Car takes time to raise up
Compressor running loudly or constantly
Uneven ride height
After diagnosing the leak, we:
Tested the full air suspension system
Located air loss from the compressor housing
Replaced the leaking compressor with a new unit
Cleared any system faults
Checked ride height and sensor calibration
The BMW now maintains its correct height — even after hours of sitting.
At 1Stop Motor Shop, we specialise in:
