Grinding Noise While Driving? This Might Be the Cause

A customer visited 1Stop Motor Shop after noticing a grinding noise and rough braking while heading home. After an inspection, we found the issue: the inner brake pad wasn’t making full contact with the disc. This caused uneven wear and compromised braking performance.

What Went Wrong?

The issue was clear once we removed the wheel – the inner pad had worn unevenly and wasn’t sitting correctly against the disc. This kind of problem can reduce stopping power, lead to damage to the brake disc, and increase the risk of brake failure.

Signs of Brake Pad Issues

If you notice any of the following, get your brakes checked immediately:

  • Grinding or squealing noise when braking

  • Steering pulls to one side

  • Brake pedal feels spongy or low

  • Vibration or roughness when slowing down
