A BMW X5 came into 1Stop Motor Shop Mallusk with water leaking inside. Our team traced the cause to a split rear washer hose soaking the interior and repaired it using a BMW repair kit.
This week, our mechanics worked on a BMW X5 that arrived with a serious interior water problem. The owner reported that the cabin was soaked, especially under the carpets and around the rear seats.
When we began stripping down the interior, it was clear this wasn’t a small leak — the water had spread across multiple panels and wiring channels, meaning a full interior removal was required to trace the source properly.
After removing the carpets, trim, and seats, we found the culprit — a split rear washer hose.
Every time the rear washer was used, the water sprayed inside the car instead of reaching the rear jet.
This is a known weak point in some BMW X5 models. The hose runs from the driver’s side, crosses to the passenger side, and then travels up to the tailgate — so a single split can cause major internal damage.
Fortunately, BMW supplies a genuine repair kit designed for this exact problem, which meant we didn’t have to replace the full hose system.
Once repaired, we carried out a complete drying process, including underfloor channels and electrical connectors, before reassembling the interior.
The X5 left our Mallusk workshop fully watertight — and just in time for the sun to arrive!
